thats a great idea and people will really benefit from it! You could even have weekly/monthly weigh-ins following the "Biggest Loser" format. If everyone lives in the same area, you could create exercise challenges to motivate them even more References :

seems like a brilliant idea, on excercises, try games tournament, like basketball, volleyball, tennis, any game that gets them running around, this is good cardio exercise for the heart and fitness in general References :
Give yourself rewards. When you achieve a weight loss of 5 pounds, reward yourself. For 10 pounds, buy a magazine subscription that will support your new habit. For a larger weight loss of 20 pounds, reward yourself with a new outfit or pair of smaller jeans. You definitely deserve one as you keep to your goals and replacing a bad habit with a new, positive one. Remember to have your reward reflect your goal. For losing weight, reward yourself with non-food rewards References : http://weight-loss-best-information.blogspot.com/2008/02/steps-for-weight-loss.html
